This fruit can be found from September and November. This is the “Wonderful” variety, a very peculiar autumnal fruit with a mixture of beneficial properties that characterise it as a super fruit! The Italian name of pomegranate is “melograno” (mela: apple; grano: grain) in fact it has the same colour of an apple, while the interior is characterised by the presence of numerous small seeds called arils, which are bright red in colour and have a sour-tasting juice. The pomegranate is a very water-rich fruit, with a medium carbohydrate content, while the fat and protein contents are low. On the other hand, the number of vitamins and minerals is very high. Pomegranate has several properties and is a true ally of the immune system: it is anti-cancer, antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory!
Tradition grants the pomegranate other special powers: the paranormal ones. In fact, this fruit is a symbol of fertility, abundance, luck. Giving the pomegranate is a great gift: it means wishing luck to those who receive it. Whether you are superstitious or not, a little lucky pomegranate at home is a must!
