The 'Marzaiolo' or 'Marzolo' mandarin is so called because it is characterised by a later ripening period that takes place in March. The skin of the ‘tardive mandarin’ is yellow with slight green veins and its yellow pulp is very sweet and juicy without seeds (in some fruits it is possible to find some seeds due to bee pollination) a characteristic that differentiates it from the traditional mandarin. It is very easy to peel and can be divided into segments like the mandarin.
The peel of our Marzaiolo mandarin is edible and it can be used for the preparation of sweets, marmalades and liqueurs. The secret ingredient that makes Sicilian mandarin so special is due to the climate of our land. Thanks to this factor, every year our countryside gives us ever sweeter, juicier and more genuine fruit!
